Our Lady's Landing
This cemetery, Our Lady's Landing, was, in fact, the first cemetery in the Highlands. This site was consecrated as holy ground after the burial of a little girl of about 8-years-old whose body was found on the beach below, evidently from a shipwreck. To this day, no one knows her identity or where she was from. The little girl had a medal of Our Lady on her neck so the cemetery was called Our Lady's Landing. Listed below are some of the people known to be buried on this site. This research was done by Florence Gillis and Elaine Wells. There are likely more buried at this site, but, as far as we know, these are the only names recorded. In fact, the headstone pictured above, of Veronica Morrissey, is the only marker to show that a cemetery ever existed.
